Fayyaz’s visit to Russia is the first of its kind after Hashd al-Shaabi officially became a member of Iraq’s armed forces.
“Fayyaz’s talks will be focused on coordinating efforts by Iraq and Russia aimed at fighting terrorism and destroying the ISIL,” the Arabic-language media quoted an unnamed Iraqi security source as saying on Wednesday.
Iraq and Russia along with Iran and Syria have set up an intelligence sharing center in Baghdad to fight the ISIL terrorist group.
In late September, Commander of the Russian Group of Intelligence Sharing Center in Baghdad rejected some media reports that the center has ended work, and said it continues to operate.
